The Jac-Cen-Del Boys Varsity basketball team picked up a huge conference win on Friday night against the 9th ranked 2A team, Southwestern (Hanover) 72-67. The Eagles erased a 13 point half time deficit behind a strong defensive 3rd quarter and some hot shooting in the 4th. After cutting the half time lead to two points at the end of the third, the Eagles quickly took the lead in the fourth as the lead changed hands several times over the first two minutes of the quarter. At the 6 minute mark, Landon Turner broke a 50-50 tie with a big three from the corner after a drive and kick from Caleb Simon. The Eagle lead would grow to as many as 7 with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game when some costly turnovers allowed the Rebels to battle back and tie the game at 66 with 50 seconds to play. After tying the game at 66 the Eagles elected to not take a time out as Caleb Simon walked the ball up the court. Simon drove left and kicked the ball out to Cam Gehl who buried the triple to put the Eagles up for good. JCD was led in scoring by Day with 20pts, Gehl with 16pts and Matt Dickman with 14pts off the bench.
