The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles defeated the Batesville Bulldogs for the first time since 2015 and just the second time since 2008 Tuesday night 62-57. The Bulldogs came out with lots of energy and controlled most of the first half with their defensive intensity, taking a 23-16 lead into the break. Both offenses played better in the 3rd quarter but the Eagles could never get closer than 5 with the Bulldog lead eventually growing to 14 with just over minute to go in the quarter. That’s when the Eagle shooters finally came alive. A three by Will Neal from the top of the key, a defensive stop, then a drive and kick three in the corner by Wyatt Day and the Eagles were rolling. A final defensive stand of almostr a minute and the Ealges trailed 43-35 going into the 4th. JCD would hit threes on their first two possessions of the 4th as well, one from Landon Turner, and another from Neal to cut the lead to 4. They finally erased the entire deficit with an old fashioned 3 point play by Caleb Simon. Simon then put the Ealges back in front for good, and for the first time since the score was 5-4 with 2 free throws with a minute to go in the game. A couple defensive stops and some clutch free throws and the game was sealed. Jac-Cen-Del will be back in action Monday 12/28 in the Edinburgh Tournament against South Decatur at 10am.
